I discovered quite a good way to put a certain class of French bloke in his place at the weekend. He was strangely upset by my description of the French Revolution as mass murder by a gang of psychopaths (some of whom shared the fate of their victims), which unleashed on an unsuspecting world, France’s prototype of Adolf Hitler: the Little Corporal, a.k.a. Napoleon Bonapart.
