Every household in England & Wales is getting £400 off energy bills, the Chancellor has announced. To be paid in 6 equal instalments—i.e. £66.66666 per month from October to March. If he’d made it £420, that would have been 6 payments of £70. Or 5 payments would have been £80 each. But what we have is another example of a politician creating a mess through not thinking things through.
