By being outside with my eclipse viewer in my hand and willing the clouds to part, I actually got a look at the eclipsed Sun at around 11:30 a.m. Unlike all the pictures I’ve seen telling me about it, the shadow was at the top of the solar disc, and going down to about a quarter of the Sun’s diameter.
