How do you find out if a saving account is registered for gross interest? With some banks, you just log on to the website and the information is there when you reach the account data. Not so with the Nationwide Building Society. An impoverished acquaintance of mine wished to know if he was getting gross interest on his paltry savings. A trip to the website proved to be a compete waste of time; the information wasn’t there. So he wrote to the Nationwide asking for the information. No reply, so he wrote again a month later. No reply, so he went back to the website and made a complaint. Eventually, 3 months after he started the whole business, he got the information he wanted.
p.s. His complaint was rejected but he wasn’t bothered as it had only been a means to the end of getting hold of the information he wanted.
