Lasting value

A contact has told me to get an earful of Jeff Wayne’s musical based on The War of the Worlds. He recorded it from Sky Arts last December and he’s only just rediscovered it.
    He got the album back in the 1970s and he was surprised to find that he could still sing along with the main numbers – they are that catchy – after a gap of 4 decades.
    He said he felt sorry for the narrator of the 21st century touring version – the bloke had to compete with Richard Burton, who did the album, and he was probably hoping that no one in the audience remembered that!
