I’ve just worked it out. The key scene in last night’s episode of Deep Space Nine was pinched from the Arthurian tradition. The last battle between Arthur & Mordred was precipitated by a knight drawing a sword to kill a threatening snake. But in the SF epic, a blundering idiot was disarmed and Major Kira and the two Bajoran fractions didn’t start shooting one another to bits.
