Dignity in politics

Although I would never favour bloating the public sector with more non-jobs, I feel the time has come to appoint an official shadow for both the prime monster and the leader of the opposition. The job of the shadow would be to deliver a swift slap to the face when Cameron or Miliband gets an impulse to indulge in a derision-creating photo-opportunity. Only when our top politicians start behaving like responsible adults will we have any hope of getting competent people in these jobs.
