It’s Sunday and we had a toast-testing breakfast today. Our kitchen guru wanted to know if we could spot the difference between Warburton’s seeded batch (5 seeds, high fibre) and Allinson’s wholemeal topped out with oat bran. I was a bit sceptical at first but I had to concede the guru’s point. The Warburton’s toast was crumbly and skeletal and the Allinson, which got my vote, held together a lot better and was much more satisfying scoff. The guru thinks the Warburton’s bread has a higher water content, which is why the toast produced is less substantial.
