The thing I resent most about this “upgrade” process is all the time wasted after getting wrong information. Like when you click on the button to the update a driver and you’re told that the one you’ve got is up to date. So how come I was able to find one for the AMD HD audio device with a higher version number and a later release date? Not that it worked after I’d run the installation program. I had to disable the driver and make it vanish from the device manager and then work out how to get it displayed again. At which point, it worked without having to be reinstalled.
It’s all the time wasted down blind alleys that gets me. Because you’re sent there by duff information from Windows, which is so sloppily gathered that it’s as bad as deliberately misleading information and just as good at wasting the unfortunate customer’s precious time.
p.s. Dolby Advanced Audio V2 doesn’t work despite being uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled using what is supposed to be the latest driver from the Lenovo website. And the same after being uninstalled, left uninstalled through several boot/shutdown cycles and reinstalled.
