A higher sugar content in this year’s Champagne grapes has led to a relaxation of the rules. The limit of 13% on alcohol content has been raised to 15% this year.
When the 2026 vintsage goes on sale in 2028, those hoping to get drunk faster are likely to be disappointed, though.
