It’s a rather weird notion that people would spend all day on Saturday boozing if England’s team is in a World Cup match at 10 p.m. All the normal stuff done at the weekend abandoned to boozing?
Alternatively, the hot weather can be blamed. Too hot to do anything but not too hot to pour booze into a dehydrated body, which makes its effects much worse. Punch-ups and heart attacks galore on offer.
