Heritage in danger

The dire pace of recovery of Scotland’s high streets had led an expert in architecture to call for new laws to protect empty buildings from fires due to accidents, arson and vandalism.
    Major fires in iconic buildings have closed main streets in the capital and elsewhere, and a decade is now a typical time for clearing up the mess.
