There was some discussion in the paper about how to open a tin of corned beef if the key is missing. Something better than using a hammer and a screwdriver or a chisel if a good old wind-the-handle tin opener isn’t available. But if there’s a toolkit handy, why not use a pair of pliers to rip the strip?
Someone mentioned in passing that he uses a corned beef tin key to gain extract a supermarket trolley from a row. Such a key is, indeed, as wide as a pound coin. But not circular, which could make insertion tricky.
