Pocket phones and the ability to send a ‘running late’ or a lying ‘five minutes away’ text message are being blamed for destroying the concept of punctuality. Being 15 minutes late is thought to be fashionable, 29 minutes lase is rude and an hour late is in ‘don’t bother turning up’ territory.
