Why would people be burdened by the fear of losing everything they have ‘worked diligently for’ to buy care in old age? They can’t take it with them when they go, and once they have shed the burden of their assets, everything is free and courtesy of the taxpayer, as for life’s failures and idlers.
And it’s not as if Boris’ famous cap, with pretty well everything excluded from the calculation such as food and somewhere to live, will make any difference.
