Brighton has been selected as the image of what Labour government does. The iconic pier was closed to the public in 1975 and left to be battered to bitz by the weather because the council didn’t dare demolish it. It has been wrecked a bit more by Stiorms A & B.
The fact that some of it is left is a tribute to the Victorian builders in the 1860s, long before Labour was invented.
● Brighton also offers the tourist the opportunity to view holiday apartments owned by government ministers and wonder how many millions of taxpayers’ money were blown to buy the favours needed to raise the purchase price.
