An unwelcome sign of the times

Oxford Dictionaries, publisher of the definitive Oxford English Dictionary, has made post-truth its Word of the Year. It’s an adjective applied to the cod statistics and downright lies concocted by politicians, their spin doctors and their apologists when they’re trying to sell something dodgy to the public.
